Arch rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards have been paired in Group A of the third edition of Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Under-20 Tournament set for April 17-30 in Nairobi.
Holidays
According to tournament organizers, the competition will be played during the April, August and December holidays to allow school going players a chance of participation.
The venues, where the competitions are slated to happen, will be communicated later with the organizers having talks with facility owners.
KPL chairman Ambrose Rachier said the initiative will be good for football development in the country but challenged the respective club stakeholders to ensure it was a success.
"The tournament will be beneficial to the development of football in the country but a lot of work will be required from the coaches, players, clubs and tournament organizers to make it a success," Rachier said.
Cheating menace
On his part, KPL CEO Jack Oguda reiterated on the issue of age cheating saying it has been a concern since the inception of the KPL U19 tournament.
"Cheating has been an issue in sports. We are insisting on documentation from primary and school school for those who are going to school and we will work with our medical committee to vet the teams before kickoff," he said.
